The Draft Horse Project is honored to receive plenty of good praise from several people whose lives have change, one way or another, after visiting our farm in Windsor, Ohio. We hope to continue making a difference in the lives of others.
“My name is Emily and I am 19 years old. Recently, in June of 2020, I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes. Ever since that diagnosis, I have struggled with depression and constant anxiety. I felt that my life was ruined and that diabetes had disrupted my life in a way that was unfixable.
A couple months ago my mom approached me about an ad she saw on Facebook for a 501(c)3 organization called The Draft Horse Project. She told me that she had talked to a woman on the phone named Alicia, the founder of The Draft Horse Project, and my mom sounded beyond excited to take me there. At first, I was a little hesitant, and wasn't sure that I wanted to try it. However, after talking to my mom and sister I decided to give it a try. Deciding to come to The Draft Horse Project was one of the best decisions of my life! I come every week and I look forward to the next visit the second we leave the horses.
The Draft Horse Project has helped me to grow as a person, and has helped me better realize how to recognize and de-escalate my anxiety before it negatively affects me or the people around me. Because of The Draft Horse Project I feel like my quality of life has drastically improved and I no longer feel like my life has no purpose due to my diabetes. All six horses and Alicia have been a newfound blessing in my life and I am so fortunate and lucky that my mom had taken the initial step to introduce me to The Draft Horse Project. Without having this amazing experience and being able to see the wonderful horses and Alicia every week, I would still be upset with life.
If you have not already come to see The Draft Horse Project, come out now, and I promise that it will be an experience you cherish forever!”
